Special Woodgate Neighbors Honored -

Kathy Hood, Diana Bixler & Kajal Chhaya - by Mike McCarron

During the January 26 Annual Meeting, Woodgate Neighborhood Association, President Matt Schreck, presented a special appreciation award to Board Member Kathy Hood and recognized two Neighbors of the Year- Kajal Chhaya and Diana Bixler.

Kathy, who is retiring from the board, was honored for her 15-plus years of tireless effort and loyal service to the WNA. She faithfully served several terms as Chair of the Education Committee, as well as terms as Secretary and also as President of the WNA. Kathy has lived on Fieldstone Lane since the early 1970’s.

Matt presented Neighbor of the Year awards to two very deserving board members.

In recognizing Kajal Chhaya, he acknowledged the enormous undertaking and her special expertise, in creating and launching www.woodgate-tallahassee.com. The website has been of tremendous value to the WNA in communicating with Woodgate residents and the public at large. The ongoing maintenance and continual refinements to the website have been a wonderful gift to WNA and our community. Moreover, Kajal organizes content and formatting of the quarterly newsletter,The Woodgate Way, as well as coordinating with the printers and communicating with the sponsors. Her contribution to our community has involved a substantial amount of time and know how. Also acknowledged was her tremendous help in publishing the 2025 WNA Directory. Kajal and her husband, Mihir, live on Fieldstone Lane.

Also receiving a Neighbor of the Year award with Diana Bixler, WNA treasurer the last two-and-a-half years. Diana is being honored for her invaluable coordination of many WNA family events, as well as her exceptional handling of the WNA budget. Her leadership led to the creation and completion of the Woodgate Pocket Park, including drafting of the approved grant from the City of Tallahassee, as well as her coordination of 80+ volunteer hours, and participation in all work parties. She has been a consummate team player and assured the whole undertaking was well organized and managed. Diana lives on Huntington Court, with President Matt Schreck.
